How do I write a good introduction for an exam essay?

An good introduction is vital as it explains to the examiner exactly what argument to intend to follow in your essay. It should therefore briefly answer the question by stating all the points you intend to make, but not in too much detail or with too much context. It should always refer to the key words of the title as this shows the examiner you are focusing on the question and not just writing down all the knowledge you have about the subject.
