What is the role of the vacuole in the plant cell?

Vacuole is a membrane-bounded structure, which is compartmentalised. It stores both organic as well as inorganic molecules along with water to support the organelles. In case of osmosis it can release the water to prevent undesired consequences. Another important function of a vacuole is to maintain the right pH in the cell and to store dangerous substances that might harm the cell.
