Describe the passage of blood through the left side of the heart. Include the names of the valves between the chambers.

This is a typical question that could be asked in your exam and so it’s important to break it down in terms of its content, as well as its format.
format: this is a describe question and thus doesn’t need vast amounts of explanation but a concise paragraph on movement of blood. It also asks us to include the names of the valves- this is just factual recall. An important part of the question not to miss is that it asks for the left side! content: how well do you know your circulatory system? After the blood has been oxygenated by the lungs, the pulmonary veins bring oxygenated blood to the left atrium, where the blood then passes through the mitral valve to fill the left ventricle. When the left ventricle contracts, the blood is forced out through the aortic valve into the aorta to supply the body with oxygenated blood.
