Outline the nature-nurture debate in psychology.

The Nature-Nurture debate centres around whether an individual's development is mainly due to their genes or environmental influences. Most psychologists agree that behaviour is a product of the interaction between nature and nurture. Nature is the view that behaviour is the product of innate biological or genetic factors, either at birth or subsequently. By contrast, nurture is the view that our behaviour is the product of environmental influences, including interactions with our social and physical world.
