How is the role of women portrayed in Pride and Prejudice?

Women are portrayed as follows:Elizabeth Bennett is unique in her wilful nature and dominance, which acts surprisingly as an attraction to men who propose (e.g. Fitzwilliam and Darcy) yet is a terror to her mother.Jane is a perfect example of womanhood in the 18th century (dances, is popular, knows how to be a housewife, is attractive, is subordinate but still encourages Lizzie)Lydia Bennett (the youngest) runs away with Wickham, proving the idiocy of women in the eyes of men and that they cannot be valued.Mary has all the qualities of a good wife but her plainest and lack of interest in searching for one makes her undesirable.
