Briefly outline two of the monocular depth cues shown in Figure 1. Explain how each cue you have identified helps us to perceive the distance of objects in this image. (4 marks).

Cue 1: Occlusion, objects closer in the visual image will block those farther away as they take up more of the field of view. This can be seen by the man occluding the Eiffel tower indicating the Eiffel tower is deeper within the visual image.Cue 2: Relative height, if an object is known to have a relatively consistent height, shorter objects are deemed to be farther away compared to taller objects. This can be seen by the individuals in the photo progressively becoming shorter as depth increases in the visual image.
