To what extent was the Enlightenment a factor in the development of the storming of the Bastille 1789?

The ideas of the Enlightenment provided the inspiration for the revolutionaries of 1789, however the revolutionaries themeelves were not philosophes. In reality, it was a the fear of suppression from royal forces and the failure of the Estates-General which led to a combined effort from the bourgeoisie and sans-culottes of Paris take up arms.
Enlightenment thinkers:e.g. 'Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains' Rousseau 'The Social Contract' (1762)The influence provided the evidence of an entrenched feudal system, and the possibility to dismantle itLimitation To what extent did this truly diffuse into society (still 60% of King's subjects were illiterate)
Other factors contributing to the Storming of the Bastille Fear - Louis XVII has just surrounded Paris with the army, fear that Paris be starved into submission storming of Bastille therefore a response to arm themselves against opposing threat (Reactionary)Failure of Estate-General there had been in Louis's distribution of the Cahiers de doléances the promise of economic reform after the failure of the Estate-General, the expectation from many still remained that their disposition should change In taking the situation into their own hands, Bourgeosie, yet mainly sans-culottes, seek to better themselves through destruction and rioting
