how do i work out speed, distance or time quickly in a question?

The first thing you do whenever you seen a question that is asking you to find one of those three things is to draw this diagram: (draw diagram). Next you re-read the question to find out which one you want to work out. For example, if the question is asking you to work out the speed you cover up speed on the diagram and what you are left with is distance over time - AKA distance divided by time and that is how you work out speed. You can have do this for the other two. For example try to answer this question: 'if a sprinter runs at a speed of 8 metres per second for 30 seconds, what is the distance covered?' Here the question has given you the speed (8) and the time (30) so using the diagram you cover up distance (as this is what we want to find) and you have speed x time left! Don't forget the units though!
