Outline the various ways that you can differentiate a function

The ways to differentiate a function depend on the function itself. If there is only one x value in the function you can differentiate as normal (hard to explain on a computer), yet if the function contains more than one x value is a separate place, you will need to use another approach such as the chain, product or quotient rule

Simplify the following C4 question into it's simplest form: (x^4-4x^3+9x^2-17x+12)/(x^3-4x^2+4x)

A curve is given by the equation y = (1/3)x^3 -4x^2 +12x -19. Find the co-ordinates of any stationary points and determine whether they are maximum or minimun points.

Solve x^2 - 6x - 2=0 giving your answer in simplified surd form.

Prove the property: log_a(x) + log_a(y) = log_a(xy).
