Find dy/dx where y = (x 2 +7) 1/2 => 1/2(x 2 +7) -1/2 * d/dx(x 2 +7) By the chain rule => 1/2(x 2 +7) -1/2 * 2x => x(x 2 +7) -1/2 Remember that x 1/2 = sqrt(x) and x -1 = 1/x => x/sqrt(x 2 +7)
