How do I multiply or divide fractions without a calculator?

For multiplication: Firstly, write out the sum you are trying to do, for example 3/4 X 1/8 Then, times the top numbers by each other and the bottom numbers by each other 3 x 1 = 3, 4 x 8 = 24 Then, rewrite the fraction with your new top and bottom numbers 3/24 For division: Firstly, flip the second fraction upside down and then change the division sign to a multiplication sign, for example  2/5 / 6/5 becomes 2/5 X 5/6 Then, this becomes a multiplication again which we know how to do from above! 2 x 5 = 10 , 5 x 6 = 30 10/30 If possible, simplify this by dividing the top and bottom numbers by the same amount, in this case by 10 to form 1/3
