A circular table top has diameter 140 cm. Calculate the area of the table top in cm² , giving your answer as a multiple of π.

So we know the formula for the area of a circle: πr2

So all we need to find is the radius2

Radius = Diameter / 2 (Half the diameter)

            = 70

Radius2 = 702

              = 4900

Therefore using our original equation: πr2

The area of the table = 4900π (This is our final answer as the question asked for a multiple of π)

What are simultaneous equations and how do I solve them?

Insert one pair of brackets so that this calculation is correct; 3 x 6 + 5 - 1 = 32

Solve x^2 = 4(x – 3)^2

solve the simultanious equations: x - 2y = 2 and 2x + y = -1
