A circular table top has diameter 140 cm. Calculate the area of the table top in cm² , giving your answer as a multiple of π.

So we know the formula for the area of a circle: πr2 

So all we need to find is the radius2

Radius = Diameter / 2 (Half the diameter)  

            = 70

Radius2 = 702

              = 4900

Therefore using our original equation: πr2

The area of the table = 4900π (This is our final answer as the question asked for a multiple of π)
