Expand and simplify (2x+5)(x^2 + 3x -1)

The answer should be 2x3 + 11x2 +13x - 5

Remeber to multipy both brackets together, and collect like terms.  (Watch out for the minus sign)

Factorising a Quadratic

Tom thinks of a number. He squares it, adds 3 times the original number and then subtracts 18. The result is 0. What two numbers could Tom have been thinking of?

When would I use the quadratic formula?

Make x the subject 2x+3=3x-1
