Solve y = x^2 + 3x + 2 = 0

Factorising gives: y = (x+2)(x+1) = 0. y only equals 0 when (x+2)=0 or (x+1)=0. Therefore x=-2 or x=-1

Solve the equation: (2x+3)/(x-4)-(2x-8)/(2x+1)=1

Simply fully (3x^2 - 8x - 3) / 2x^2 - 6x
