Explain what is meant by resonance.

Resonance occurs when a driving frequency is similar to the natural frequency of the system. The system is forced to vibrate at its natural frequency and therefore absorbs maximum energy, which means that the amplitude of oscillations is at its peak, and the system is in resonance.

Is the excitation and de-excitation of an electron from the ground state (of an atom) due to the collision of another particle (e.g. electron) an elastic collision or an inelastic collision.

Using Newton's law of universal gravitation, show that T^2 is proportional to r^3 (where T is the orbital period of a planet around a star, and r is the distance between them).
