Solve algebraically the simultaneous equations 2x+y=5 and 3x+y=7, for x and y.

Assign 2x+y=5 to be 'Equation 1,' and 3x+y=7 to be 'Equation 2.'The steps to solving for x and y are: 1.get rid of one variable (being either x or y) 2.solve for the other variable 3.substitute the now known...

A is the point with coordinates (5, 9) B is the point with coordinates (d, 15). The gradient of the line AB is 3. Work out the value of d.

gradient is calculated using the change in y coordinates divided by change in x coordinates. so, (15-9)/(d-5)=3 => 6/(d-5)= 3rearrange this equation to get d on one side (6/3)+5 = d therefore d= 7

Functions question: f(x) = 3x + 2a; g(x) = ax + 6; fg(x) = 12x + b. a and b are constants; Work out the value of b

So this is a functions question which is essentially asking you to combine the first two functions and then equate them with the last one. fg(x) can be considered as replacing the x in f(x) with g(x): fg(x) ...

Determine if the Following equality has real roots: (3*X^2) - (2*X) + 4 = (5*X^2) + (3*X) + 9, If the equation has real roots, calculate the roots for this equation.

From looking at this equality, we can see that this is a quadratic equation,This is because X 2 is the highest order term we have in this equation:In order to find the roots of our equality, we need to rearr...
