Factorise fully 8y + 4y^2

This question relies on knowledge of algebraic expressions and highest common factors.

What is the highest common factor which goes into the expressions 8y and 4y^2.

The answer is 4y. This is then taken on the left hand side of the expression and brackets are used to contain what the expressions are when divided by 4y, which is 2+y so the answer is 4y(2+y).
