Use a Gantt chart to plan your EPQ work for the next month.

Being able to use a Gantt chart to plan is an important skill to allow the extended project to be completed on time. I think this would be a discussion with the student based on their project, and what stages it needs. For example for a student who is writing an essay/report type project, there would be stages including research, planning the essay sections, writing these sections, returning the essay for feedback etc. For a student who is creating a piece of artwork for their project the stages would clearly be different. Discussing what the student thinks are the important stages, and breaking down their project into sections and sub-sections is the first stage of making a gantt chart. After this, we could then discuss the basics of gantt chart organisation, and how they could use a gantt chart to plan their work for their project around their other subjects, homework, revision and personal life.
