How do you distinguish a normal statement from a question?

As you know, the English language has rules that allow you to identify a question without too many problems: order of the words (auxiliary verb + subject + verb + ...) and/or presence of elements such as When, What, Why, etc. In Italian, the word order of a question is usually the same as that of a statement: what you need, in order to distinguish a normal sentence from a question, is to look at the context in which the sentence is spoken, at the presence of elements like Quando (When), Perché (Why), etc., and, most importantly, you need to pay attention to the tone of voice, which tends to rise throughout the enunciation of the question. Do not forget that Italian doesn't differentiate between Why and Because, so you will always find the word Perché.
