What is the structure of the US government?

The US government is broken into 3 branches: The execuive, the legislator and the judicary, also respectivey known as the president and cabinet, congress and the supreme court. Each branch is seperate from one another, yet they have the ability to check on each other's actions to ensure that no one branch exceeds its given power. The specific powers of each branch is written in the US constituion. Which in summary states that the executive is the commander-in-chief and the head of all foreign affairs, the legislature proposes and makes laws and represents the people whilst the judicary are the guardians of the consitituion.
