Analyse a short text.

First of all, I would ask the student to read the text out loud in order to work on pronunciation. Then, we would replace the text in its context: book it has been taken from, synopsis of the original book, authors, dates, genre, etc... This would allow the student to have a better knowledge of literature: learning a language is also studying a new culture.  We would then work on a particular set of sentences of the text (the particular quote could be given by the question). This means to do a grammatical analysis of the passage chosen. I would lead the student in the analysis by asking questions such as: " Which verb tenses does the author uses here? Why?". Finally, we would place the text in a broader context and link it to other resources that could be interesting: other texts, poems, films, paintings, etc.
