When do I use the genitive case in Arabic?

The genitive case appears in two main instances. Remember the following:Any word after a preposition will be in the genitive case. For example: انا في البيتِ = I am in the house. (في is the preposition that renders البيت genitive) 2. The second or final term of an idaafa will also always be genitive:بيت البنتِ = The girl's house. (البنت is the second term of this idaafa so it takes the genitive case). As long as you remember these two rules you will have no trouble in both identifying and using the genitive case in Arabic.
