What would be the best way to prepare for a translation exercise from English to Russian?

The passage is split into assessable elements. The candidates are awarded points if the meaning of the translation is conveyed correctly and the grammar is accurate (case endings, agreements and verb endings). To prepare, candidates should study the required grammar and ensure they know the most difficult structures. It is likely that the translation will test a range of grammar from the specification. It is advised to revise the case endings and have plenty of practice in applying these in exam style translations. Attention should also be given to prepositions as they feature in translations almost every year and often present difficulties. Finally, core vocabulary should be learnt thoroughly to be able to obtain a high score.
