Outline three ways in which school may mirror work in capitalist society.

Schools and work both have hierarchical structures. In school, the headteacher has the most control/power, whereas the students have the least control/power. This is mirrored at work in capitalist society as the work boss has the most control/power and the workers have the least control/power. In school older or more academically gifted students are given higher degrees of autonomy, at work managers and skilled workers are given more autonomy than other workers. Students at school are taught from a young age that tests/exams are fair/legitimate, and at work it is taught that promotional opportunities are also fair/legitimate.
