Outline the meaning of term 'parliamentary sovereignty'.

Parliamentary sovereignty is the sum of legal sovereignty and political sovereignty. Legal sovereignty means that the body is the highest body for making law. For instance, in the UK, Parliament can pass law on whatever subject matter it wishes. Political sovereignty, in this context, refers to the fact that Parliament cannot bind its successors. In other words, Parliament is always free to enact legislation which reverses the effects of earlier legislation.
