How do I write a plan for an essay in an exam?

Writing a brief plan in an essay exam may seem like a waste of your limited time, but it can really help finetune your answer and keep its focus. Remember to firstly read the questions carefully and choose which one you want to answer. This may be the one you feel most confident with, or that you've revised most successfully for. Then quickly think of the main points you wish to make. Your plan may look something like this: - Introduction (briefly outline what you'll say with some background) - Point 1 - Point 2 - Point 3 - Conclusion (summarise what you have said and what this means in response to the question). It can also be useful to remember that every point should be brought back to the question at the end. Another useful tip is that the first sentence of your introduction and the last sentence of your conclusion should be able to be read together and make sense.
