Which tectonic settings experience earthquakes?

Earthquakes tend to occur in areas where two tectonic plates are in contact with each other. The three main locations are: 1) areas of continental collision, 2) subduction of one plate beneath another, or 3) in conservative margins where two plates slide past one another. Collision and subduction tend to produce the largest earthquakes.
