Respiration: Glucose + Oxygen --> Water + Carbon Dioxide + EnergyIf there is a lack of oxygen then anaerobic respiration will take place instead of aerobic respiration, which in animals has the following word equation:Glucose --> Lactic Acid + Some energy This releases less energy than aerobic respiration and produces lactic acid which is what causes muscle ache after exercise.
