How should I approach a data-response question?

When responding to a data-based question, there are a few things to which you need to pay attention:1) When reading the text, highlight the most important point: who is arguing a point, statistics provided, arguments supporting different points (preferably highlight those in different colours so that you can evaluate the piece for bias), and so on.2) Most data-response tasks consist of several questions – pay attention to how many points each question is worth. Questions worth relatively few points are usually quite straight-forward – they require either a direct answer based on the text provided or an answer coming directly from economics theory. Questions worth more questions will require a more thorough analysis and development of points; adding your own knowledge to your answer can also help.3) When reading the questions, look for key words and make sure you have addressed each one of them.
