Sewing= image of women in the old days. Women are to be at home doing home activities. Noticeable when men are outside chatting at the beginning of the play and women are waiting inside the house
Colours: black= mourning; Adela´s green dress= rebellion= future death
Temerature: heat increases as story develops= repression of daughters; daughters have constant need for fresh air and a cool drink= need for freedom
