What is the difference between Functionalism and Marxism?

Functionalism is a consensus perspective, therefore theorists such as Durkheim view society to be based on harmony and all of the societal institutions complementing one and other to contribute to social solidarity. Meanwhile, marxists view capitalist society to be rooted in conflict between two groups: the Proletariat and the Bourgeoisie. Marxists believe that social harmony will not be achieved until the working class Proletariat overthrow capitalism.
