What is the difference between traction, saltation, solution and suspension?

They key to remembering which of these marine processes is which is by its funky name. Traction - when large pebbles and rocks roll on the seabed. The name should remind you of a tractor, large wheels which roll around.Saltation - when pebbles and rocks bounce and roll on the seabed. Similar to traction, yet this material is much smaller causing it to bounce.Solution - when fine material is carried after dissolving in the sea. The name solution should remind you of science experiments in which you would mix compounds causing one to dissolve/disappear. Suspension - when fine material is carried by the sea. Since this material does not dissolve, think of the name as material suspended in air, but in the water.
