Explain what is meant by resonance.

Resonance occurs when a driving frequency is similar to the natural frequency of the system. The system is forced to vibrate at its natural frequency and therefore absorbs maximum energy, which means that the amplitude of oscillations is at its peak, and the system is in resonance.

Use the kinetic theory of gases to explain why the pressure inside a container increases when the temperature of the air inside it rises. Assume that the volume of the container remains constant.

A ball is launched upwards at 30 degrees to horizontal with a velocity of 20 metres per second, how far does it travel before landing? (no air resistance)

Explaining how capacitors work

A water jet starts at a point X and reaches its maximum height at a point Y. Air resistance has a negligible effect on the motion of the water jet. (i) State the direction of the force acting on the jet at Y. (1 mark)
