A linear accelerator (LINAC) is used to accelerate protons at CERN before they are injected into the Large Hadron Collider. Explain with the aid of a diagram how the proton is accelerated by the LINAC.

What path would a charge moving in the x-y plane track, in the presence of a uniform magnetic field out of the page?

A ball is thrown up with an initial velocity of 8 m/s and initial height of 1.5m above the ground. Calculate the maximum height the ball reaches and the time it takes to get there.

A car of mass 800 kg is accelerated horizontally by constant net force of 1920 N for 9 s. It then breaks for 2 s, but drives off a 5 m high cliff. If μ = 0.85, what is the total horizontal distance travelled by car and its velocity? Ignore air resistance.
