Two cars start at point A. Car 1 moves in a direction at 5 m/s. After 10 seconds car 2 accelerates in the same direction as car 1 at 2m/s^2. At what time after car 1 starts moving and distance from A does car 2 pass car 1?

-First find an equation for the distance travel by car 1. In this case s=5t+50 -Next find an equation for the distance traveled by car 2. Using suvat since constant acceleration (1/2)at^2+ut=s. Substitute known values (1/2)2t^2=s. -Since we are looking for distance at same time 5t+50=(1/2)2t^2. Solve for t getting t=-5,10. t can't be negative so ignore -5. t is time after car 2 starts moving so time after car 1 starts moving is T=20 -Substitute t=10 into either equation to find distance from A s=100.
