How can i prepare for an unseen poem in my exam?

It is a common misconception that you cannot prepare for unseen poetry.Personally, I found that the most effective way to prepare was to develop my analytical skills on poems I had never seen before at home. For example, I would find a poem off the internet or from my anthology book that i hadn't seen before, and identify one point for the structure of the poem (for example the rhyme scheme and the effect it has), identify three analytical points on the language and their purpose, whilst also establishing an overall understanding of the poem. Through hard work and lots of practice it becomes easier to analyse and understand new poems, helping me in a stressful exam situation.
