Outline the principal features of a geostationary orbit and use them to explain one use of satellites in this type of orbit.

Geostationary orbits: -have a time period of 24 hours -have an angular speed equal to that of the Earth - maintain above a fixed position on the Earth's surface at all times. Therefore, they are very good for any kind of telecommunications (radio, TV etc.), as they can broadcast reliably to a particular area of the Earth.
