What are the auxiliary verbs in Italian? What is their function?

The auxiliary verbs in Italian are the verb "avere" and "essere". They work as independent verbs as well as auxiliary verbs, it means that they are needed in the formation of compound verbs. Generally, the verb "essere" is used to express a concept of condition or being (ex: sono stato...), the verb "avere" is used to express the concept of action (ex: ho avuto...). However Italian language is really complicated and full of exceptions that only through examples and direct explanation may help in the full comprehension.
