How to achieve an A* or A grade in Sociology?

With Sociology, applying the main theories to the question is always something that moves you up the grading ladder. What I mean by the main theories is Marxism, Functionalism, Feminism, Neo-Marxism and Post-Modernism and the New Right. When explaining what these theories think about a certain topic e.g. New Right prefer the nuclear family as they believe it is the most beneficial for the socialisation of children, you also need to criticise them by using the other theorists, rather than your own opinion. E.g. Feminists would disagree with the New Right here, because they believe that the nuclear family portrays patriarchy to the females in the relationship. Critically evaluating is an essential in Sociology. But another thing which I think really helps to achieving those top marks is bringing in other examples, not just the ones that the teacher tells you in class.
