Give two reasons why people continue to live in areas at risk from hazard events. (4)

For this question it is important to explain which hazardous event you are discussing. People often continue to live in volcanic environments because of the nutrients in the soil which are good for farming and it is their source of income. Another reason may be that people cannot afford to leave or have an emotional attachment to an area, especially if many generations have lived in that area before. It is often about taking calculated risks and balancing positives against negatives. Make sure to make a point and then explain why it is important to gain marks.
