Are extra-curricular activities important to write about on your personal statement?

in a personal statement, t's really difficult to make sure you sell yourself without seeing too cocky, and to make sure you include enough academic reading that the university will see you as a serious candidate. In my option, I would say that nearly all medical schools really value extra-curricular activities because it shows you can balance your time. As a doctor you will always be working and taking exams. Its easy to forget that you need to have a social life too. As the gateway to the profession, medical schools take mental health of their students very seriously and having a way to relax is something that they look for. Bear in mind that although A-levels are the hardest exam you have probably done to date, it only gets harder. I would say that a paragraph on extra-curricular is more than sufficient for most universities. But any mention should be linked back to good clinical skills.
