What is the structure of a good essay?

A good essay starts with a well-organised, clear introduction. Your introduction should begin with a bit of background on the subject you are writing about so you can smoothly lead into your thesis statement. A thesis statement is a clear sentence that states exaclty what you believe and how you are going to prove it. Once you have a clear thesis, you can easily map out the rest of your essay. You want to spend about a paragraph or two on each point, being sure to clearly explain each point in your argument. Once you have done this, you can write your conclusion. Your conclusion should sum up all of your arguments and how these clearly prove your thesis. While this sounds like a lengthy paragraph, this should be easily summed up with a sentence on each point.
