¿Cómo conjugar un verbo en español? (How to conjugate a verb in Spanish?)

In Spanish we classify verbs (in infinitive mode) into 3 different categories:

1. PRIMERA CONJUGACIÓN: verbs ended in –AR
Cantar (sing), Amar (love), Buscar (search), Jugar (play)

2. SEGUNDA CONJUGACIÓN: verbs ended in –ER
Temer (fear), Correr (run), Beber (drink), Traer (bring)

3. TERCERA CONJUGACIÓN: verbs ended in -IR
Servir (serve), Vivir (live), Reír (laugh), Compartir (share)

Within each category we have both REGULAR and IRREGULAR verbs. Just as in English, all REGULAR verbs are conjugated in the exact same way. However, IRREGULAR verbs follow a random structure. The best way to learn how to conjugate IRREGULAR verbs is by practising, through reading and speaking!

Let’s see some examples:
1. PRIMERA CONJUGACIÓN (AR)
Regular
Yo Canto, Amo, Busco, Juego
Tú Cantas, Amas, Buscas, Juegas
Él Canta, Ama, Busca, Juega
Nosotros Cantamos, Amamos, Buscamos, Jugamos
Vosotros Cantáis, Amáis, Buscáis, Jugáis
Ellos Cantan, Aman, Buscan, Juegan

Irregular
E.g. Estar (to be)
Yo Estoy
Tú Estás
Él Está
Nosotros Estamos
Vosotros Estáis
Ellos Están

2. SEGUNDA CONJUGACIÓN (ER)
Regular
Yo Temo, Corro, Bebo, Traigo
Tú Temes, Corres, Bebes, Traes
Él Teme, Corre, Bebe, Trae
Nosotros Tememos, Corremos, Bebemos, Traemos
Vosotros Teméis, Corréis, Bebéis, Traéis
Ellos Temen, Corren, Beben, Traen

Irregular
E.g. Ser (to be)
Yo Soy
Tú Eres
Él Es
Nosotros Somos
Vosotros Sois
Ellos Son

3. TERCERA CONJUGACIÓN (IR)

Él Sirve, Vive, Ríe, Comparte
Nosotros Servimos, Vivimos, Reímos, Compartimos
Vosotros  Servís, Vivís, Reís, Compartís
Ellos Sirven, Viven, Ríen, Comparten
