There are three verbs in this sentence: se dépêcher, éviter and arriver. Se dépêcher is conjugated using the present simple tense because the action is currently happening. Eviter et arriver are both in the infinitive form because in French when there are two or more verbs in a sentence only the first one is conjugated, all of the others are in the infinitive form.
