How and with what success did the Nazis establish effective control over German society 1933-45?

This question allowed for students to give a nuanced argument about the effectiveness of Nazi control over German society. In a good essay answer the important things to focus on are: - Structure of the essay - planning what to adress in each paragraph before starting is very important!! For this question example of a strucutre could be: 1/Management and censorship of the media 2/Effective use of propaganda in instilling a sense of loyalty to Hitler and Germany 3/Control over the youth (manipulation of school curicula) 4/Influence and limitations of the Gestapo police force 5/ Forms of dissent (Bloomberg and Frisch crisis, white rose movement etc..) - Supporting all ideas with factual evidence is very important (key dates and quantitive numbers are always useful) - Incorporating HISTORIOGRAPHY: having a basic understanding of 2 or more opposing views on a specific historical event/ issue will help earn highest marks and allow students to understand that history is never black and white - always needs to be interpreted... for this question looking at Eric A Johnson's thesis on how conformity of thought can never be truly controlled and wasn't close to being in Nazi Germany due to the manhy forms of dissent could be useful.
