Was anti-Semitism the main reason for Hitler's popularity in the 1930s? - 20marks

First evaluate the spelling, grammar and form of the answer. Ensure that the pupil has a good understanding of how sentences should flow and connect, as well as how to organise their argument.

On the one hand, look at popular anti-Semitism, pogroms against the Jews, and the Kristalnacht which involved both Hitler's henchmen and the people themselves.

Look at how people were forced to believe in anti-Semitism through propaganda, or through the pressure made by constant police presence and threats.

Then ensure that the student has looked at the alternatives, for example, Hitler's policies concerning workers, the Volkswagen program, his promise of the Lebensraum.

Also mention how some people opposed his actions, many wanted to protect Jewish people, but still would have supported Hitler out of fear or because of his alternative policies.

Final paragraph / Conclusion should evaluate these points and make a valuable judgement on which is the most important for Hitler's success.
