How can you tell if a verb is masculine or feminine?

In Spanish, nouns are either masculine or feminine. The articles for feminine nouns are la or una and the articles for masculine nouns are el or un. Generally, feminine nouns begin with an a for example, la bicicleta or una bicicleta and masculine nouns end in an o for example el libro o un libro. There are a few endings which help us to decide whether a noun is masculine or feminine although there are some irregulars. Feminine nouns normally end in ción (la educación), dad (la ciudad), or tad (la amistad). Masculine nouns normally end in or (el pintor), ón (el cinturón), és (el estrés), ma (el tema). Now try to decide whether the noun is masculine or feminine: tío, hija, niño, comunidad, teatro, piscina, situación, edad, programa, algodón.
