How do I approach the time conditions of a history essay?

The strict time conditions of a GCSE history essay are one of the most taxing aspects of the exam. The examiners want to see that you can present a clear and concise argument with specific and relevant context in the short time given. The best way to approach the time conditions is to come up with your own personalised structure for when you write your essay.
For instance, if you find you have difficulty finding the time to write 4 full paragraphs or points, but you need to ensure balance in your answer, break your essay down into 3 points instead. E.g. 2 points for, 1 against. To make sure you still achieve balance make your 2 FOR points significantly shorter in comparison to your 1 AGAINST POINT which you should make considerably more developed.
If you can find some link between each of these points it will help the argument to flow better and will save time when planning when you are struggling to find new points to answer your question. If you can find 3 points that can inform each other well and are relevant and back up your argument, you will create a more sophisticated and concise answer.
