How should I structure my higher mark answers during a GCSE history exam?

It is important that you consider a range of factors during your answer, in order to prove your understanding of the subject matter and access the higher marks. Typically for the 16 mark answers you will need to have 3-4 points, all of which are well developed. Start with an introduction, which sets the scene and outlines a structure you will take. Then think about the different factors to include. State why they are relevant and important, but also put the limitations of them, as you need to have a considered essay. Use the PEEL structure within your paragraphs to help you keep on track. You will put the strongest point last, as this will help you to flow into your conclusion, where you state your 'killer argument' to convince the reader of your viewpoint.
