How do I tackle a source based paper?

Source based paper's are often what student's find the most difficult despite the fact that most of what they need to know is in front of them. When answering a source based question a little bit of extra knowledge is great but too much takes away from the point of the exercise. They want you to evaluate the source, not demonstrate how much you have memorised. So for this one really stick to what you can actually see or read and only add in personal knowledge when it is directly relevant to the point you are trying to make.
